Tina Atherton, MDS Coordinator

My name is Tina Atherton, and I’ve been the MDS Coordinator at Arizona Grand Senior Living for almost seven years. An RN for many years, I’ve been an hospital ER nurse and Director, as well as heading Endoscopy, OB/GYN, Geriatric, and Oncology Units. I’ve been a Director of Nursing and have also taught classes for the Area Agency on Aging.

The flip side of me has a black belt and a private pilot’s license. My career history includes working as a police instructor in street survival and self-defense, a safety cartoonist for the FAA private pilot newsletters, and a publisher of a magazine about mules. I am proud that I recently won an award in an international photography contest.

My husband and I have two horses that we show in competition (Eagle Dancer “Kola” and Scout). We have three grown children and two grand pups (rat terriers Ripley and Newt).

I enjoy working at Arizona Grand because the people are really great. There’s friendship, support, laughter, professional pride, and a tremendous dedication to the welfare of our residents.
